Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will launch early due to Xbox Series X
June 13, 2025
TheXbox Series X’s November 10 launchisn’t just making gamers adjust their calendars — it’s affecting the release of blockbuster games, too. Ubisoft hasmoved the release(viaRock Paper Shotgun) of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla to November 10, a week earlier than originally planned, to ensure it’s available the same day asMicrosoft’s new console.
The PC, PS4,Stadia, and Xbox One releases are accordingly arriving at the same time. Smart Delivery will ensure that you can buy the game on an Xbox One and upgrade for free to the version for Series X andSeries S.

It’s still not certain when Valhalla will debut onPlayStation 5. With Sony still quiet on a PS5 release date, Ubisoft is only willing to say that its Viking assassin title will reach that console when the system is ready. You could be waiting longer if the PS5 takes a while to arrive.

When it is released, the Xbox Series X version of Valhalla will make use of the faster hardware to improve the visuals and performance, although it won’t dramatically change the experience. You can expect to play in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second with higher-resolution textures and clutter (read: foliage) density. Load times should also be much shorter.
There are high expectations for this version of the game. WithHalo Infinitedelayed to 2021, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be one of the few marquee titles available for the Xbox Series X when the console launches. Whether or not it really spurs demand is another matter — you might be tempted to stick to the Xbox One if you’re happy with a “good enough” experience raiding the English countryside.
