Chromecast mirroring added for Sony Xperia Z3v, Z2 and Z2 Tablet
August 14, 2025
AsGoogleslowly continues to expand the list of Android devices able to mirror their screen to theChromecast,Sonyfinds themselves the latest winner. The Sony Xperia Z3v, Z2 and Z2 tablet can now mirror their display through your Chromecast streaming device.
If you thought that theNexus 5was the only official, non-root, phone to be able to mirror to the big screen, I am afraid you are wrong. I am happy then to inform you that Google now lists 19 devices that can cast their screen from the Chromecast app to Google’s streaming stick, and these three bring Sony up to five devices on that list.

TheSony Xperia Z3andZ3 Compactfound their way on to the supported devices list earlier in October, perhaps not unexpected for Sony’s latest flagship and flagship-mini. As is proving to be normal, Verizon is a little late to the game, but their version of Sony’s latest flagship Z3, theXperia Z3v, finally made the cut. The addition of theXperia Z2and Z2 Tablet speaks highly of the previous generation Sony flagships.
Now hold on, did I say nineteen devices can now mirror to Chromecast? Why yes, that is what I said. Interestingly, Sony now ties Samsung with five devices each on the list, the Nexus line follows with a four count and LG then HTCfinish things off. Let’s look at the supported devices:

There is no question we all wish this list of supported devices with mirroring capabilities was a little bit longer. It is good then that most Android devices not on this list can still cast content to the big screen throughChromecast.
Sony Xperia Z3v, Z2 and Z2 Tablet users, please try things out and let us know what you think. For the rest of us, did you gather any insights from this short list that will influence future phone purchases?
