Today we are taking a look at Unleashed, a product that will turn your smartphone into a full remote for your DSLR camera. We have seen plenty of these already, but there is something that makes this one special – it doesn’t add a big chunk of technology to your already large camera set.
In fact, it’s best feature is that you probably won’t even notice it’s there. The Unleashed is so small you can leave it connected at all times, and it won’t take over the hot shoe, so you can use your other accessories as you wish.
Once connected, the included app will give you full control over your camera. you may change the settings for the ISO, shutter speed, aperture, mode, flash, white balance and more. It’s also possible to control video, or take over multiple cameras simultaneously. The whole system is very simple and works via Bluetooth, so there’s also no huge learning curve.
Unleashed does support a large amount of Nikon and Canon cameras, but the modules are not exactly universal. There’s multiple versions for different types of cameras. But this is why they fit so well, though – each camera’s specific form factor is taken into account. You can look at the list of supported DSLRs and figure out which specific Unleashed version you have to get.
