Exclusive: LG V30 will be a video-centric smartphone
August 06, 2025
Looking at the LG V-series, the key differentiator has always been the focus on multimedia and video recording. TheLG V10brought with it dual cameras and a manual video mode, as well as a 32 bit Hi-Fi DAC, while theLG V20introduced the first 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC, Hi-Fi video recording and front and rear wide-angle cameras. Today, we can reveal that LG is planning to boost the multimedia experience on theLG V30yet again, with several new features designed to bring an improved all-round media experience.
We’ve already confirmed that the camera will be thefirst smartphone camera to offer f/1.6 aperturewith a crystal clear lens, and we can confirm that LG will combine this with a new Cine Video and Live Zoom effect. The camera app will also bring a new LG-Log and Graphy feature, which appears to offer even more DSLR-like controls with specific logging and histogram features that are normally reserved for professional cameras.

In audio, the LG V20 was one of the best audio-centric smartphones on the market and the V30 should continue this trend, with a new Hi-Fi Digital Filter and Sound pre-set as well as Hi-Fi Streaming with MQA. Essentially, this allows you to stream hi-fidelity audio in a file size that’s small and easy to download or stream, without any of the losses associated with traditional compressed audio files. The LG V30 will also offer Hi-Fi video recording with RAM (receiver as a mic), which may mean you’re able to connect an external microphone, although we’re not quite sure how LG will implement this feature.
The LG V30 will also advance the DAC on the V20 with a new Advanced Quad DAC built-in to the device, as well as tuning by Bang & Olufsen in certain markets (like theLG G6and other devices before it). The LG V30 isundoubtedly focusedon making video the center of all communication, with a clear focus on providing a cinematic video and audio experience on the move. VR is set to be a part of this overall experience, with theLG V30’s OLED display rated as supporting the HDR-10as well as beingDaydream VRready.
TheLG V30 will be announced on August 31and as we’ve previously revealed,it will go on sale on September 28, with pre-orders in the US launching on September 17. What do you think of the LG V30? Let us know your views in the comments below!
