Google Home now supports Voice Match for your personal Netflix profile

We’ve all experienced it. You boot up Netflix to watch the latest episode ofStar Trek: Discoveryor check out which new movies have been added, only to be greeted by a series of bizarre “because you watched” recommendations after a family member or partner forgot to switch user profiles.
While it’s easier to stick to a single profile on a more personal device like a phone or tablet, avoiding ‘profile clash’ on a shared device, like say a Chromecast plugged into your main TV, is a much tricker affair.
If you’re like me and have thrownGoogle Homeinto the equation, everything is even more complicated as shouting “OK Google, play Stranger Things on Netflix” has previously only served playback from a single Netflix profile.
Thankfully, that’s not the case anymore as Google has updated Home’sVoice Matchfeature so that you can tie each Netflix profile to a unique voice profile. Put simply, if you’ve set-up multiple Voice Match profiles already on your smart speaker, you can make sure their Netflix commands will now only correspond to their Netflix profile.

The feature is detailed in a Google Home support page (viaGadgets360). To set it up, all you have to do is head over to the Google Home app on your phone or tablet, head to More settings > Video and photos, select Netflix and tap Link account. Nice and easy.
The Voice Match update follows the recent addition of audiobook voice-command support to Google Home to coincide with thelaunch of audiobooks on the Google Play store. After ruling the roost atCES 2018, it seems that Google is keen on further advancing Assistant’s repertoire as it looks to cut Amazon’shuge leadin the nascent smart speaker market.
