Google Pixel 2 ad takes a sly shot at iPhone storage woes

June 18, 2025

Here’s something that shouldn’t come as a surprise: Google knows what makes a good advert.

As such, it also shouldn’t come as too much of a shock that commercials advertising Google’s own products are uniformly excellent. Whether it’s thatclassic Android advertbacked by Andrew W.K.’s cheesy banger ‘Party Hard’, or the glut of stellar teasers for everyMade by Googledevice you’re able to think of, Google knows how to grab your attention with a quick video.

This is certainly the case with the latestGoogle Pixel 2advert, which expands on the phone’s first“More, more, more” trailerwith rapid-fire clips showcasing the device’s enviable feature list.

The jaunty clip shows various people asking whether the Pixel 2 can perform certain tasks – such as predicting the weather, controlling smart home lighting, setting reminders – while also showing off the Pixel 2’s low-light camera nous, it’s machine learning smarts, and the phone’s ever-friendly AI companion,Google Assistant.

Much like the “satisfyingly not new”headphone jack digfrom last year (whichisn’t quite as funny now, I guess), the ad also contains a beautiful jab at Apple’s popular smartphone range. This time the punchline is the iPhone’s stringent storage compared to the Pixel 2’s unlimited cloud storage for photos (for a limited time).

In the ad, a woman asks whether she’ll ever see a “Storage Full” notification on the Pixel 2 when taking photos. The notification which pops up in the middle of the commercial is clearly a straight copy of an iOS-style alert. Brutal.

Let us know what you think of the advert in the comments. Is it better thanSamsung’s latest effortwhich brilliantly mocks Apple’s phones and fans over the last decade? Maybe not.
