HONOR handsets to get Android M in February 2016

July 14, 2025

At an event in Berlin last week,Huawei’s HONOR sub-brandconfirmed that they would be launching a beta for the upcomingAndroid 6.0 Marshmallow update, which would be available to selectedHONOR 7users in the coming weeks. What wasn’t clear however, was when the rest of the range would get the update but a tweet by HONOR’s Indian account has revealed that the mass rollout will begin in February next year.

Rather than being an addition to the Android interface, EMUI overhauls the complete experience but sadly, there are some factors that don’t work too well. Having just become a Nexus manufacturer – with the excellentNexus 6P– here’s hoping that this will mean EMUI will be scaled back a little with the next update..

While HONOR have confirmed the update, its parent brand HUAWEI has been conspicuous in its lack of forthcoming information; the company is known for being somewhat slow at updating its handsets but being a Nexus OEM may help speed this up. Either way, we’ll hopefully hear more about the rollout at therumoured Mate 8 launch later this month.
