HTC reportedly has two new Nexus devices in the works

June 02, 2025

While the Android world is still seemingly head over heels forHuawei’s Nexus 6P, it looks like we’re already getting some details about Google’s next Nexus devices.

Popular smartphone leaker@evleaksjust recently sent out a tweet claiming thatHTChas two Nexus devices in the works for Google. The phones are supposedly being referred to internally as the M1 and S1, and are both running Android N.

Soon after the tweet was sent out, the folks atAndroid Policechimed in with a continuation on@evleaks’claim. Apparently these new Nexus devices are not only being referred to as the M1 and S1, they’re also codenamed Marlin and Sailfish.[related_videos align=”right” type=”custom” videos=”688299,676923,651620,650937″]Google has a very long history of referring to its Nexus devices by aquatic names, so Marlin and Sailfish would fit into the internal naming scheme perfectly. As a refresher, the Nexus 6P was codenamed Angler, theNexus 5Xwas codenamed Bullhead, theNexus 6was codenamed Shamu and theNexus 5was named Hammerhead.

Google normally doesn’t release its Nexus devices until the fall, so we still have quite awhile until we find out if these rumors are correct or not. As is the case with other bits of early speculation, these rumors should be taken with a grain of salt. A lot can change in the next few months.

With that said, why not speculate a little until we get more details? What are your thoughts on HTCmaking the next Nexus devices? Be sure to let us know what you think in the comments below.
