HTC U11, HTCU Ultra and HTC10 will get Android Oreo, confirms HTC
June 01, 2025
Though Android Nougat isn’t yet commonplace — it’s onless than 15% of Android smartphones— eyes are now turning towards its recently revealed successor,Android 8.0 Oreo. The new software arrived earlier this week, so you can expect to hear lots about device updates in the coming months.
We already have some ideas as to which phones will get theAndroid 8.0 Oreo updateand when, but HTChas been one of the fastest out of the gates to deliver a hard confirmation. In a tweet sent out yesterday, HTCwrote that theHTC U11, theHTC U Ultraand theHTC 10would all get the update to Android Oreo worldwide.

These devices are pretty obvious choices as far as HTC’s updates are concerned — they’re phones that would have been expected to receive Oreo, so HTChasn’t really put its neck on the line here.
Still, the confirmation is welcome, especially with regards to the HTC10. This launched with Marshmallow in 2016, and though it should be obvious that it will receive two major upgrades, that doesn’t always happen. TheOnePlus 2 won’t receive a second major Android update, while theLG G4, LG’s 2015 flagship, is still waiting on Nougat in the US, andit too may never arrive.

For this reason, we’re also pleased that HTCstates that the updates will roll out worldwide, not just in certain regions.
HTChas been one of thefastest manufacturers to roll out Android Nougatupdates so far and pushed it out to its HTC10 in just over 90 days; there appears to be no reason why it can’t deliver Oreo in a timely manner also, but it hasn’t yet provided a timeline.
Are you pleased to see HTCconfirm Oreo on its devices? Should other manufacturers come out and do the same? Give us your thoughts in the comments.
