HUAWEI P40 series 2020 launch confirmed, still no Google services
July 22, 2025
According toFrandroid, HUAWEI CEO Richard Yu confirmed the launch date of the upcoming HUAWEI P40 and P40 Pro handsets. The company will launch the devices at an event in Paris toward the end of March 2020. Yu did not reveal an exact launch date or release schedule apart from that.
We already knew HUAWEI was planning aglobal release for the P40 seriesof devices next year, despite theMate 30 being a China-exclusive device. Yu said consumers can expect a decent upgrade over the currentHUAWEI P30andP30 Prodevices, including a new design, improved camera quality, better performance, and improved AI functionality.

Don’t miss:How could HUAWEI release a P40 Pro in early 2020? Here are some theories.
The devices will also includeAndroid 10with the EMUI skin atop since HUAWEI’sHarmony OSwon’t be ready for the limelight just yet. Unsurprisingly, we also don’t expect Google services to come on these devices. HUAWEI is still banking on its ownmobile servicesto bring success to the device.
We aren’t completely sure which markets can expect to see the devices. And amid theHUAWEI vs US trade ban debacle, we don’t know how well the devices will fair outside of China. It’s hard to imagine people paying for a flagship device that will come without Google services, particularly in Western markets. We havesome theorieson how HUAWEI will handle this all, but only time will tell what the company really does.
