Latest OnePlus open beta pulled - battery drain to blame? (Updated)

Updated (04/09/18):It seems like the beta builds being taken down was not because of possible issues, but because it was an accident.

Reaching out toAndroid Police, a OnePlus spokesperson said the builds were removed as a result of the company moving over from OnePlus.net to OnePlus.com.

Something happened that led to the builds being removed, but do not fret. The spokesperson also confirmed that the beta builds will be restored sometime soon.

Original article (04/09/18):OnePlusis one of a few Android OEMs that allow users to try out beta updates, giving fans a taste of new features before the final software rolls out. Being beta releases, you’d expect a few major issues to pop up now and again — that seems to be the case with the latest Open Beta releases.

According toAndroid Police, the company has pulled the Open Beta 5 update forOnePlus 5T, Open Beta 7 forOnePlus 5, Open Beta 24 forOnePlus 3Tand Open Beta 33 for theOnePlus 3. Comments from theOnePlus forumsindicate that the reason may be excessive battery drain, but OnePlus hasn’t officially commented.

The news comes mere days after the company shared first details regarding theOnePlus 6. OnePlus says the new flagship will pack a flagship-levelSnapdragon 845, 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage.

The new smartphone will also include the divisivedisplay notch, but OnePlus has confirmed that you’ll be able to hide it via a software setting
