Many IFTTT features won’t work with Gmail soon
August 19, 2025
If you use If This Then That (better known asIFTTT) to perform automation functions within yourGmailaccount, unfortunately, some or all of the features you rely on will cease to work very soon.
According to an emailGoogleis sending out to some users (viaNot Enough Tech), IFTTT applets won’t work with Gmail starting on July 22, 2025. The reasoning given for this change is that Google claims IFTTT hasn’t “complied with [Google’s] updated data privacy requirements announced on 26 June 2025.”

This policy change is likely a reaction to thelarge data breach suffered by Google+, which eventually resulted in Google announcing the complete shutdown of the beleaguered social network.
It should be mentioned that this termination of IFTTT integration within Gmail won’t affect other Google services, such as Google Assistant, Google Drive, etc. It should also be noted that other free email services, such as Outlook/Hotmail, will still work with IFTTT.
After the shutdown on March 31, IFTTT applets that did things like auto-forward messages, integrate emails with Google Calendar, send notifications, etc., will no longer work.
Because of what the email explanation from Google says, it is possible that IFTTT could update its policies in some way before March 31 to keep at least some of the services active. However, that seems unlikely considering how the deadline is only a little more than a week away.
