June 17, 2025

Update, June 21:LG Spirit (H440N), which launched alongside Magna in 2015, is now receiving Marshmallow in several European countries.

Original post, June 20:LGhas begun rolling out anAndroid 6.0 Marshmallowupdate for its entry-levelLG Magnahandset today. The update has just been spotted in Greece for smartphones with the model number LG-H500f, but this also suggests that we could see more countries across Europe and other parts of the world start receiving updates very soon.

The LG Magna originally launched back in 2015 running Android 5.0.1 Lollipop, so it’s reassuring to see that LG is continuing support for last year’s lower cost handsets as well as its flagships. After the update, Magna owners will be able to use the new Google Now on Tap software feature, as well as benefiting from Doze battery management, and improved configurable app permissions. LG hasn’t released any patch notes yet, so there might be one or two other features and fixes included as well.

While the update is rolling out across Greece this week, it could be a little while longer until an software arrives in your region. Still, keep an eye out for that OTA notification and you can always force a manual update check via the settings menu if you just can’t wait. Also, let us know in the comments below if you’ve spotted the update rolling out for your handset.
