Need a tablet the size of a fast food tray? Samsung and AT&T will deliver

June 04, 2025

Three years ago,we saw a Samsung Galaxy View tabletat a Samsung event in London. With an 18.4-inch display and a list price of $600, the tablet was a monster with only a handful of practical uses.

Now, via an anonymous source speaking withAndroid Police, it looks likeSamsungis following up on that beast of a device with the Samsung Galaxy View 2.AT&Twill likely be one of the first to sell the giant tablet.

According to the anonymous source, the Galaxy View 2 will trim down on the size of the original View by knocking the display down to “only” 17.5 inches. It also will update some of the flaws of the original View, such as bringing in aUSB Type-Cport to replace the old laptop-style AC power adapter port.

To prop up the View 2, the source says you’ll use a hinge that’s permanently built-in to the back of the tablet. When you pull the hinge all the way out, it creates a large kickstand that you can use to keep the device in a practical upright viewing mode. If you close the hinge and lay the tablet flat on a table, the hinge will protrude enough to give you a 30-degree angle, making the tablet into a kind of drafting table.

However, don’t start thinking about replacing your powerful drafting equipment with the Galaxy View 2. The source says that the View 2 will have an Exynos processor, a 1080p display, 3GB of RAM, no stylus, andAndroid Oreo. The tablet won’t even supportSamsung DeXmode, although it will feature a customized multi-window functionality to enhance your productivity.

With a tablet of this size, with these specs, and sold via AT&T, it points to only one thing: a media-consumption device. You certainly aren’t going to replace your laptop or desktop computer with it and you’re probably not going to keep it in the kitchen to browse through recipes. The most likely use for the device will be for watching movies or TV all around the house with the possibility of even bringing it outside to the patio.

The source didn’t give any pricing or release date for the Samsung Galaxy View 2, but we’ll keep an eye out for that info. What do you think? Is this something you would buy? Let us know in the comments!
