OnePlus 8T may bring 120Hz and quad rear cameras to a lower-priced phone

July 31, 2025

MoreOnePlus 8Trumors have emerged, and it sounds like the next generation of the not-quite-flagship smartphone’s design will bring higher-end camera and display features to a more affordable device.

AnAndroidCentralsource claims the OnePlus 8T will have a 6.55-inch AMOLED screen likeits predecessor, but running at 120Hz much like onthe 8 Pro. While this won’t make a dramatic difference in smoothness, it could be welcome if responsiveness is a make-or-break factor in your next phone.

The 8T is also reportedly moving to a quad rear camera array, although the priorities will have shifted with this model. There’s still a 48MP primary camera and a 16MP wide-angle sensor, but there’s now an upgraded 5MP macro camera and a new (if entirely too low-resolution) 2MP portrait lens. The main sensor has also received an upgrade, the tipster said, so this may be more viable if the 8’s mediocre photography kept you away.

Further upgrades could be relatively modest. As suggested by previous data, therearen’t any major design changesexpected for the 8T. Instead, you’d get a slightly faster Snapdragon 865 Plus alongside the more familiar 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It’s not certain if there will be a higher-end version with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage like there was for the 8.

If the report is accurate, OnePlus could reveal the 8T by late September or early October and ship it withOxygenOS 11(and thusAndroid 11). Likethe 7T, then, the 8T could be a very straightforward seasonal upgrade that makes high-end features more accessible and addresses some weak points. Not that that this would necessarily be a bad thing. The OnePlus 8 was one of the better values for money at its price point, and the rumored upgrades could make it an easy choice if you’re at all inclined toward OnePlus in the first place.
