Oxygen OS 11 is now (almost) fixed on the OnePlus 7 and 7T
July 11, 2025
The Android 11-based Oxygen OS 11 update for the OnePlus 7 and 7T series of phones has been adisaster, to say the least. Months after its release, OnePlus failed to fix some nasty bugs causing sluggish performance, battery drain, overheating, and other problems. This week, the company finally started rolling out some much-needed fixes for the phones in the form of the Oxygen OS 11.0.2.1 update. While the latest software adds “no new bugs” according to users, it doesn’t fully resolve existing problems, including an issue with HD streaming.
The changelog for the Oxygen Os 11.0.2.1 update for theOnePlus 7andOnePlus 7Tphones reads as follows:

While this may shine a ray of hope in the hearts of users, it seems the update still hasn’t fixed all the existing issues.
Multiple users onRedditreports that the update improves UI lag and makes the performance slightly more consistent. The battery performance of the phones is also reportedly better after the update.
However, the issue of not being able to stream HD videos remains unresolved for some users. With the Oxygen OS 11 update, the OnePlus 7 and 7T devices lost the ability to stream HD quality videos onstreaming serviceslike Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. That’s because the update inexplicably demoted the phones from Widevine DRM L1, needed for HD streaming, to Widevine L3 that only enables SD streaming.
That said, some people have had success in getting HD streaming to work by uninstalling and reinstalling streaming apps or clearing the cache of affected apps. Remember, you could lose some stored app data if you do the latter.
Meanwhile, several users are upset that OnePlus is just now floating the June security patch when most phones are getting the July update, and Google is almost ready to roll out the August security patches.
Other persisting problems on the phones include issues with gestures and frame rate drops. However, the overall experience after the latest update seems to be significantly better than the previous versions. Unfortunately, there’s still no word on when the phones will get theAlways On Displayfeature available on open beta builds.
