Qualcomm hints that G Flex 2 will launch at CES 2015

With CES 2015 right around the corner, we’re going to be hearing more and more rumors about potential hardware launching at the event. We’ve already heard that Kodak will launch itsphotography-focused phoneat CES and ASUS could launch theZenFone 4at the event. NowQualcommis joining in on the fun. Earlier in the day, the chipset manufacturer teasedon Twitterthat a newSnapdragon 800-powered device will launch atCES 2015. The tweet also brings us a “first look” at the device, showing an image of a handset with rear-mounted buttons, much like we’ve seen on LG devices in the past.
So, what device is being teased in the tweet? It could potentially be the follow up device to LG’s first phone with a curved display, theLG G Flex 2.We’ve already heard from our sourcesthat LG is launching the G Flex 2 at CES 2015, and it’s very possible that this could be the device teased in the photo. According to our sources, the G Flex 2 will feature a high resolution plastic-based OLED screen, an overall smaller form factor, as well as an improved self-healing coating covering the chassis.
The firstG Flexfeatured a Snapdragon 800 processor, which appears to be the same one Qualcomm is teasing in their tweet(unless they meant Snapdragon 800 series and not the Snapdragon 800 specifically). Of course the Snapdragon 800 CPU is still a very solid processor, so on a device that’s showcasing what display and self-healing technology can do, it wouldn’t be that shocking if LG chose to include this processor on their 2nd generation device.
So far, all we can do is speculate on this device. The handset featured in this tweet isn’t confirmed as the G Flex 2, but it seems a though it would make sense for the company to tease it a few days beforehand.
