HMD Global’sNokialaunched its last true flagship smartphone — theNokia 9 PureView— over a year ago. It wasn’t the brand’s greatest device, but it was undoubtedly a daring departure from the norm. Now, a new report suggests that its long-awaited successor could arrive before the end of the year.

According to a report byNokia Power User, theNokia 9.3 PureViewcould finally make its debut at a rumored “major launch event” in November. The publication’s sources add that the event is still in its “planning phase” and the date is not yet confirmed.

Nokia 9.3 PureView: Late to the party

The next Nokia flagship has become something of an urban legend. The phone was rumored to launch in mid-2019 but has reportedly faced several delays since. Other Nokia phones have been rocked by delays this year. HMD Global last week launched theNokia 8.3 5Gsix months after its initial announcement.

At least there is no shortage of leaks and rumors for the Nokia 9.3. A report from May mentioned we could see 8K recording support on the Nokia flagship, which could signal the inclusion of theSnapdragon 865chipset. This alone would be a marked improvement over the Nokia 9 PureView’s Snapdragon 845.

It’s not clear if we’ll see that penta-lens camera setup from Light return either, especially considering the creator of the array’s departure from the smartphone industry.
