RuneScape’s modern and classic versions headed to your nearest phone and tablet

Recognized as the MMORPG with thehighest number of updatesand thegreatest aggregate playing time,RuneScapefirst debuted on PC way back in 2001. Fast forward 16 years, and the fantasy MMORPG is headed to phones and tablets.
According toRuneScapedeveloper and publisher Jagex, bothRuneScapeandNew School RuneScapewill be ported over to mobile devices. Both games will feature a “mobile-optimized interface,” though the more interesting aspects is how the mobile and PC versions will communicate with each other.

For starters, Jagex announced that mobileRuneScapeplayers will be able to play with their PC counterparts. Furthermore, you’re able to start the game on your computer and, if you need to head out, can continue playing where you left off on your phone or tablet. You can also choose to play solely on your mobile device, seeing how you will get full versions ofRuneScapeandNew School RuneScape.
According to a statement released to VentureBeat, Jagex chief operating officer Phil Mansell said an overwhelming majority of current players voiced their intent to playRuneScapeon their mobile devices:

Whether those players will actually play the fantasy MMORPG on the bus is another question, but the demand certainly seems to be there.New School RuneScapewill be released something this winter, whileRuneScapewill be released in 2018.
