Samsung embraces camera cutout lighting, brings feature to Good Lock

After theSamsung Galaxy S10family hit store shelves, a few apps popped up that allowed users to emulate a notification light by adding lighting effects around the camera cutout on the front of the devices.Holey Lightis one such example, which we wrote abouthere.
It seemsSamsungis ready to embrace the concept of camera cutout lighting since the company just integrated the feature into Samsung Good Lock (viaXDA Developers), the popular customization app whichmade a comeback over the past year.
As with Holey Light, users can customize a light ring around the selfie cam which appears when notifications arrive on the Galaxy S10. You can choose a different color for each type of notification (including a multi-color option) and can also customize the duration of the light’s blinking.
However, just like with the other third-party options, Samsung Good Lock will not allow all notifications to come through when the screen is off. Phone calls, text messages, and certain pre-installed apps will work in this fashion, but other notifications will only come through when the display is turned on.
To set up your notification lighting in Samsung Good Lock, navigate to the Edge Lighting+ section where you’ll find a new option Samsung calls “Eclipse.” From there, you can customize camera cutout lighting just as you would Edge Lighting.
