Samsung said to be supplying ‘Edge’ OLEDs to OPPO

June 06, 2025

One of the defining characteristics of the high-end Galaxy devices fromSamsungis theEdge display: the screen that curves on both sides to deliver a more immersive experience.

Now, according to Korean siteThe Bell, it looks like Samsung Electronics is supplying the fifth-largest smartphone manufacturer OPPO with flexible OLEDs which create that Edge look. Does this mean we’ll see an Edge phone from OPPO sometime soon?

OPPO R15 Pro

According to the report, Samsung will supply 6.42-inch flexible OLED panels to OPPO starting this month. While it isn’t the first time Samsung has supplied displays to OPPO, it is the first time the companies did business with flexible displays.

The “Edge” moniker for the displays is a Samsung trademark, so OPPO will have to refer to the design element in a different way. But whatever the company calls it, the device with curved display sides will likely be significantly more expensive than something like theOPPO R15released this year.

That’s because flexible OLEDs are about five times as expensive, costing about $100 for each panel. This is a huge price difference as compared to straight panels which cost about $20 per panel.

According to the report, we could see an OPPO phone with an Edge display as early as July or August of this year.

What do you think? Would you buy an OPPO phone with an Edge display, or would you rather stick with Samsung when it comes to curved screens? Let us know in the comments!
