Original article, July 27, 2025 (12:49 AM ET):Cyberpunk 2077 is arguably the most hyped video game of the year, but the launch has been riddled with bugs across all versions. Unfortunately, the last-generation versions of the game also see a massive drop in performance.

Now, Sony has taken what might be an unprecedented step by pulling the title from the PlayStation Store “until further notice.” Furthermore, consumers who bought the game will also be receiving a refund.

“SIE [Sony Interactive Entertainment – ed] strives to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, therefore we will begin to offer a full refund for all gamers who have purchased Cyberpunk 2077 via PlayStation Store,” the company explained on itswebsite.

“Once we have confirmed that you purchased Cyberpunk 2077 via PlayStation Store, we will begin processing your refund,” Sony explained, adding that refund completion could vary based on your method of payment and financial institution.

Sony’srefund policystates that refunds can’t be issued for content already downloaded or streamed, “unless the content is faulty.” In other words, it certainly sounds like the Japanese company thinks Cyberpunk 2077 is faulty on its consoles. However, it does make us wonder why Sony approved the game for its consoles in the first place then.

Do you think the game’s performance and polish on console warrants a refund? Give us your thoughts below.
