Stable Android 10 update now rolling out for OnePlus 5 and 5T

The OnePlus 5 and 5T have been stuck onAndroid PieandAndroid 10open beta versions for a while now. So you’d be forgiven for being a little impatient about the devices getting a stable Android 10 update. Thankfully, the waiting is seemingly over now.

The phones are finally getting the stable Android 10 update, as pera tipreceived byAndroid Authority. Both the 2017 OnePlus flagshipsreceivedthe third Android 10 beta just last week and a user has now taken toOnePlus forumsto post a screenshot of the stable update on their OnePlus 5T.

It looks like you’ll need at least 1.8GB of free space on your OnePlus 5/5T to update to the stable version of Oxygen OS 10.0.0. You should receive the update automatically via an OTA, but OnePlus hasn’t yet officially announced it in a forum post. This could be a limited early rollout to a few users, so you might have to wait a bit for it to show up on your phones.

Since there’s no official word from OnePlus, there aren’t any links available for manually flashing the stable Android 10 build on your OnePlus 5 phones.

What’s new?

According to the changelog, the Android 10 update for OnePlus 5/5T brings a brand new UI with a new customization feature for icons displayed in the Quick Settings menu.

You also get new gestures for navigation. OnePlus has removed the back gesture from the bottom of the screen and added it to the left and right edges of the display. There’s also a new bottom navigation bar to allow for switching between recent apps.

Besides the new UI and gestures, the OnePlus 5/5T will apparently get theOnePlus Game Spacefeature with the Android 10 update. It’s essentially a custom launcher forAndroid gameson OnePlus phones and lets you control existing gaming mode settings.

The camera on the phones will also see improvements in the long run as per the aforementioned tip fromAllAboutOnePlus. The changelog above doesn’t show the camera update section. However, the publication reports that the phones will get optimizations for Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) with later stable updates.
