The Interview is now available on Google Play and YouTube Movies

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past week, you likely already know that Sony has run into a few difficult decisions regarding the release of their controversial movie,The Interview.  Following the hijacked emails from some of Sony’s top executives and some serious threats by the hackers, the company decided to pull the movie from all major theaters around the United States. Following scrutiny from fans around the States, Sony announced a few days ago that the movie will still be shown in independent theaters, though major theaters will still not have access to the film. However, Sony and Google have just confirmed thatThe Interviewwill be available through both Google Play and YouTube Movies starting now.

In a Twitter post earlier today, Google announced the movie’s availability:

Seth Rogen approached Google to ask if they would show the film. While the search giant and Sony were apprehensive about it originally, they finally agreed to make it available online. Google explains:

The Interviewis available to either rent for $5.99 or to purchase for $14.99, and you’re able to do so now on Google Play or YouTube Movies. Additionally, the movie is available on Xbox Videos and a dedicated site,SeeTheInterview.com. The movie is live now, so follow the links below to grab the film!
