The OnePlus and OPPO partnership just got even more confusing
June 28, 2025
OnePlushas cozied up to sister companyOppoin recent times, with the brands confirming earlier this year that they were essentiallymerging their R&D efforts. Now, OnePlus has announced that it’s moving to further integrate with its stablemate.
The company announced the decision on theOnePlus community forum, with co-founder Pete Lau acknowledging earlier efforts to merge several OnePlus and OPPO teams.

“After seeing positive impact from those changes, we’ve decided to further integrate our organization with OPPO,” the OnePlus executive explained. So what does this mean for OnePlus?
“With this deeper integration with OPPO, we will have more resources at hand to create even better products for you. It will also allow us to be more efficient, for example, bringing faster and more stable software updates for OnePlus users,” Lau elaborated. He added that OnePlus would continue to operate independently.
Does this mean we should expect future OnePlus phones to run OPPO’s ColorOS (as seen onChinese OnePlus devices)? Fortunately, there’s good news on this front.
“As it pertains to software, OxygenOS will remain the operating system for global OnePlus devices outside of the China market,” a company representative toldAndroid Authorityin an emailed response to questions.
We’ve also asked OnePlus what this integration actually entails and whether this means it’s essentially an independent OPPO sub-brand now. We’ll update the article if/when they get back to us.
What do you think of OnePlus getting even closer to OPPO?
