The Pixel C is no longer available on the Google Store

Whether it was the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, or Pixel 2 XL, Google’sPixel Ctablet has been sold alongside them for around two years. Unfortunately for the tablet, its time on the Google Store appears to have officially ended.
We’ve known for a bit that the Pixel C had an expiration date —Googledropped the 32 GB version from its online storefront back in January, though it kept the 64 GB variant around for $599. AsAndroid Policenotes, the 64 GB version has also been dropped, which means that Google has run out of inventory and will not make any more to sell to the public, regardless of the storage size.
Even the optional keyboard for the Pixel C was removed from the Google Store, though folks don’t appear to be as torn up about that, seeing how it was an additional $149 purchase.
Honestly, I’m going to miss the Pixel C. I owned one for a bit, and I enjoyed having stockAndroidavailable to see on its 10.2-inch, 2560 x 1800 display. It was heavier than my iPad Pro 9.7, but it wasn’t lacking for horsepower — the 1.9 GHz octa-core NVIDIA Tegra X1 processor and 3 GB of RAM were more than sufficient for day-to-day use.
Plus, it had a few neat party tricks, such as charging the keyboard cover through magnetic induction technology, as well as packing magnets so powerful that I actually used my Pixel C on my refrigerator for a brief period of time.
Alas, it was only a matter of time until the Google Store would completely shed the Pixel C. After all, at this point, Oreo is the last major Android update for the Pixel C, even though the tablet is due for another year of security updates.
Also, with more companies set to make tablets and 2-in-1 devices withChrome OSthat can run Android apps, the market for dedicated Android tablets might soon become an afterthought.
Finally, even though Google littered discounts here and there, the Pixel C largely remained at its $599 price tag. That was already rather high for an Android tablet in 2015, and it only magnified over time.
At this point, the only Android tabletsworth consideringare the Galaxy Tab S3, which itself is pricy, and Amazon’s Fire series of tablets.
