TiVo’s 4K Android TV dongle launched for just $50

TiVo, best known for their big TV DVR boxes, is now getting into the streaming media device business. It has just launched theTiVo Stream 4K, a dongle powered byAndroid TV. Best of all, this device is going on sale for just $49.99, but only temporarily. That price will go up to $69.99 after May 27.
The TiVo Stream 4K, which was first announced atCES 2020, has all the standard Android TV features you’ve come to expect. you’re able to download and stream content from thousands of services, includingNetflix,Amazon Prime Video,Hulu, andDisney Plus. You can also download otherAndroid TV appsvia theGoogle Play Store. The device supports streaming at up to 4K UHD resolution, as well as Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos. It has 8GB of onboard storage and 2GB of RAM.
The device comes with a remote that supportsGoogle Assistant, which means you can use voice commands to search for movies and TV shows without having to switch between multiple streaming apps and services. It also integrates live TV withSling TV. There’s a seven day free trial for that feature, but after that’s over, you will have to pay extra to keep using Sling TV. TiVo Stream 4K also includes TiVo Plus, which offers live streaming TV along with access to thousands of on-demand movies and TV series. The UI is designed to offer recommendations for watching more content based on your previous history.
Overall, the TiVo Stream 4K is clearly designed to compete with similar products like theRoku Streaming Stick Plusand theAmazon Fire TV Stick 4K. However, it’s not quite as versatile as the more expensive Android TV-basedNVIDIA Shield TV device,which can be connected to the company’sGeForce Now PC game streaming service.
Again, this introductory price of $49.99 only lasts for a few weeks so you might want to jump on getting the TiVo Stream 4K now.
