Verizon adds free 15GB to phone plans, waives overage charges, and more

July 25, 2025

Today, Verizon announced a bunch of new perks for customers. The upgrades and changes are part of the company’s response tothe ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The perk that wireless customers will care about the most is the addition of 15GB of data tomost plansstarting March 25 and lasting until April 30. Obviously, unlimited customers will still see unlimited data, but the amount of 4G LTE hotspot data they can use will go up by 15GB for that time period.

If you’re on a non-unlimited wireless plan, the 15GB of extra data will be added to your bucket and you can use it for your regular smartphone data or your hotspot connections. All standalone Jetpack plans will also see a 15GB boost.

Regardless of which plan you’re on, there’s nothing you need to do to get the free 15GB upgrade. It will get added to your data bucket automatically on Wednesday.

If you happen to use up that extra 15GB allotment, Verizon has you covered there, too. The company will waive all overage and late fee charges for the next two months to help customers financially affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.

On top of that $20 discount, the router rental charge will be waived for 60 days for new Lifeline customers (or just bring your own router, which is a far better investment). It also includes Disney Plus for a year, free.
