Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 camera samples show off how it performs in low-light
July 27, 2025
Xiaomicontinues to tease its upcoming smartphone, theMi Mix 3and has now provided some camera samples. Xiaomi co-founder and president Lin Bin shared the low-light shots on Chinese social media websiteWeibotoday (viaPlayfulDroid) ahead of the phone’s launch next week.
The shots reveal how the Mi Mix 3 handles background and foreground focusing in low-light conditions. Night-time photography is a hotly contested battleground for Android OEMs and they regularly attempt to outdo each other in this space — more-so than many other areas of smartphone design (such as display resolution or thinness, though these were fought over in the recent past).

However, these first Mi Mix 3 shots aren’t particularly impressive. They’re fairly bright and detailed, but the contrast isn’t doing a good enough job to really separate the glass and its liquid (wine?) from the background.
They’re not bad, but we’ve been spoiled by low-light photography on Android lately — take a look at the snap below taken on the newPixel 3, for example.

It’s hard going up against Google because it develops unfathomably clever smartphone camera tech, but the Mi Mix 3 and Pixel 3 are comparable, modern Android phones. Bin may have been highlighting the focus capabilities rather than low-light, but nevertheless, the shots as they appear are underwhelming.
In related news, the Mi Mix 3 has also appeared in a TV spot. YouTube channelTech Newsuploaded the footage and while we don’t know where it originated, it seems to an official Xiaomi video. Its main focus is the Mi Mix 3’s sliding body.

We recentlylearned moreabout the Mi Mix 3’s screen too: it’s coming with a Full HD+ (2340 x 1080) OLED display and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. We also heard that the phone will come with a whopping10GB of RAM.
