Xiaomi will launch Redmi Note 9 series globally this week (Update)
August 24, 2025
Update, June 01, 2025 (4:42AM ET):Xiaomi has already confirmed that it’s holding a Redmi Note 9 series event tomorrow (April 30), but it looks like we can expect at least one more smartphone from the firm here.
The company has just revealed on itsforumthat the previously leaked Mi Note 10 Lite will be making an appearance at the event too. Check out the teaser image below.

An FCC listing (h/t:XDA) points to the phone swapping out theMi Note 10‘s 108MP camera for a 64MP shooter instead. It also seems like the Mi Note 10 Lite will offer four other cameras (8MP+8MP+5MP+2MP), compared to the standard model’s 20MP+12MP+5MP+2MP layout.
Otherwise, it seems like you can expect the sameSnapdragon 730Gchipset and 5,260mAh battery as the standardMi Note 10. The vanilla variant retails for €549 (~$597) in Europe, so we’re expecting a slightly cheaper price tag for the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite.

Original article, June 26, 2025 (7:16AM ET):Xiaomi is teasing the global launch of new Redmi phones on Twitter. The phones belong to the Redmi Note 9 series and Xiaomi is promoting them with the hashtag “TheLegendContinues.”
The launch event is scheduled for 8PM GMT+8 or 8AM ET on April 30. The official teaser doesn’t reveal any details about the phone models up for launch, but it’s beenrumoredfor a while that Xiaomi is planning to introduce the Redmi Note 9 and theRedmi Note 9 Proin Europe.
While we’ve already seen theRedmi Note 9 and Note 9 Pro Maxlaunch in India, the vanilla Redmi Note 9 hasn’t made an appearance just yet. It’sexpectedto be the most affordable phone in the series with a design similar to that of thePro models. How do we know that? Well, the story goes something like this.
A Redmi phone was recently spotted in alisting on TENAA, China’s equivalent of the FCC. Its design was pretty much the same as the Redmi Note 9 Pro phones, leading us to believe that it’s the unreleased Redmi Note 9. However, a separate listing onChina Telecom’s websitenamed the phone as the Redmi 10X.
It’s quite possible that the Redmi Note 9 is the global name for the phone, while in China, the same phone is called the Redmi 10X. We hope to get more clarity on the issue once Xiaomi makes the official announcement on April 30.
Redmi Note 9 specs
According to the aforementioned TENAA listing, the Redmi Note 9 could feature a 6.53-inch FHD+ LCD display, a 2Ghz octa-core processor, up to 6GB of RAM, up to 128GB of expandable storage, and a 4,920mAh battery. Going by the listing on China Telecom’s website, the processor could be theMediaTekHelio G85, a possible incremental upgrade over the budget-focused Helio G80.
The China Telecom website also suggested that the Redmi 10X will be priced in China at 1,499 Chinese yuan or ~$211. This is about what we expect for the global pricing of the Redmi Note 9 as well.
That’s all we know for now about Xiaomi’s upcoming launch plans. We’ll update this article with more information if the company announces anything new.
