You may not need a Samsung flagship to get an in-display scanner and triple camera in 2019

July 22, 2025

Samsung is planning to give its next Galaxy A series device a triple-camera and an in-display fingerprint sensor, according toETNews. If the speculation is accurate, the mid-range device would have two of the features rumored for the flagshipSamsung Galaxy S10too.

According toETNews,Samsung may use optical technology for the in-display fingerprint sensor on the Galaxy A series phone; the potentiallymore advanced ultrasonic sensorswould be left for the Samsung Galaxy S10.

By giving its flagship model an ultrasonic sensor and its mid-range model an optical sensor, Samsung would still be able to offer an incentive to purchase the more expensive device. There would also likely be differences in the quality of the triple-camera setup employed.

However, adding an in-display fingerprint sensor of any sort and a triple-camera to a Galaxy A series phone would likely make it highly competitive at its price range. This is something thatETNewssuggests Samsung is specifically trying to do as sales of flagship devices havebegun to stall.

Currently, few devices have in-display fingerprint sensors or triple-cameras. Only the super-premiumPorsche Design HUAWEI Mate RShas both, and Samsung is yet to release a device with either technology.

Should Samsung follow this year’s release schedule, the next Galaxy A series device could be released before the Galaxy S10. Even if Samsung adjusts the release schedule slightly, it would likely release both devices at a similar time.

While this is all exciting news, take it with a grain of salt: Samsung has not confirmed any rumors about in-display fingerprint sensors or triple-cameras in either phone.
